Now to start posting my research

Please forgive if this blog tends to change.  As I do my research, I want to post links to sites I found in specific areas as the internet keeps growing with information and perhaps come across others looking for the information or maybe also researching the same things I am.  If nothing else, I plan on each weekend to update my findings.  Thanks for looking.  Carol Hudson-Louisiana

Family Membership Site

The reason for a membership type site is for privacy issues. I would like to offer a place for those who would like to share their info, addresses, birthdates, photos etc with other living relatives so we can all get back in touch with one another again and also to get to know other relatives. So those who would like to participate can sign up and get a user id to login.

It would be a great way to share documents too. (Figuring out how to do a membership site will take some time as right now I have no clue as to how to do it.) Another great thing would be the ability for everyone to list their phone, address, email, facebook, ancestry sites etc. now that we all live so far apart from one another.

Within the site then one could also release articles, special announcements etc., like traditional membership sites. Now if there was just a way that I didn't need the day job and could spend my days doing research, scrapbooking and creating a membership site - I would be heaven. As that is not the case, it'll take me longer to become a certified genealogist, to get all the research done, to be able to get all those craft projects done and create the website. Guess I have quite a few rainy day projects aheld of me - I can say that I will never be bored.

Starting from scratch - researching my family history.

I made some big breakthroughs in my research, you know the kind that you get all excited and you just want more and more info....well, besides being overwhelmed by all this awesome info....I seemed to have forgotten to evaluate all the evidence!!!!! I was so excited that names, places and dates all seemed to fit so well together that I realized that I haven't proved anything, just couldn't stop collecting.

So I'm not really starting from scratch, but I going to do a thorough anaylsis of the evidence, cite the sources and get my paper files better organized. I have too many spreadsheets started, post-it notes etc going on. So I'm going to use this blog to document my collecting and post any memory crafts created (with permission of course).

But I also have another goal in mind -- My goal is to not only keep compiling my family history but to also create a free membership site for relatives to come and be able to learn, compare, share information. Read more on this -- Family Membership Site.
